WEBTOON Originals Take the World by Storm

BERITA · 2026.02.05

The live-action film <My Daughter is a Zombie>, adapted from the hit WEBTOON Original of the same name, has emerged as the biggest box office success among Korean films this year, igniting the summer box office like never before.

Released on July 30, <My Daughter is a Zombie> held the No.1 spot at the box office for 23 consecutive days, attracting more than 5 million viewers to theaters. It also ranked No.1 in North America among Korean live-action films released this year, second overall in Vietnam, and third in Indonesia.

Produced by NAVER WEBTOON’s affiliate ‘Studio N’, <My Daughter is a Zombie> has not only sparked renewed interest in the WEBTOON Original, but also brought in new readers, and expanded the influence of WEBTOON IP, further enhancing the value of webcomic-based content in the global market.

The Japanese adaptation of the popular webnovel <Marry My Husband (MMH)> immediately garnered explosive attention from viewers as soon as it was released on Amazon Prime Japan on June 27.

It achieved the highest viewership among all Amazon Prime Original dramas ever released in Japan.

Instead of the usual approach of remaking a Korean drama for Japan, MMH was created as a brand-new Japanese drama based directly on the original webnovel, further elevating the value of the original IP.

From webcomics to films and from webnovels to TV dramas, K-content continues to evolve across borders and platforms, building diverse fandoms and fueling anticipation for its future growth.
